Mohali (Mera Chandigarh): The India’s premiere Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research,NIPER (Mohali) has come into news on Wednesday, when its Director Dr.P.Ramarao resigned under ambiguous situation.
Dr. Rao, who was appointed on August, 2004 for five year, could not able to get extension of his tenure.
In absence of new appointment to be made by Central Government, he was holding office as care taker Director of NIPER.
According to reliable sources, NIPER care taker director, who was struggling to get extension resigned because of tussles with NIPER Faculties over Faculty Promotion Interviews for Career Advancement held at NIPER.
It is to mention that the two of NIPER faculty members have served legal notices to NIPER Director on Faculty Promotion Interviews issue, which put pressure on Dr.P.Ramarao, who was trying his extension as Director, as his tenure has expired in August, 2009 (as per term and condition laid in his appointment letter).
The other reason stated behind Dr.P.Ramarao sudden resignation wasnon-issuance of continuation authority letter to him, which he sent to Secretary, Ministry, Chairman BoG and President of India (Visitor) on 16th November,2009.
