Chandigarh Police Seizes Spurious Surgical Items from Two Wholesale Chemist Shops

Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): The Crime Branch of the Chandigarh Police on Tuesday has raided city’s two prominent wholesale chemist shops named as Kumar Brothers in Sector 11 and Jindal Associates in Sector 24 found selling spurious surgical items under the brand name of Johnson and Johnson.

Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): The Crime Branch of the Chandigarh Police on Tuesday has raided city’s two prominent wholesale chemist shops named as Kumar Brothers in Sector 11 and Jindal Associates in Sector 24 found selling spurious surgical items under the brand name of Johnson and Johnson.

Information to this effect was shared by Madhur Verma, SP (Chandigarh and Crime) that, the respective wholesale chemist shopkeepers were arrested following the complaint lodged by Pankaj Monga, brand integrity manager of Johnson & Johnson in Mumbai.

According to sources, Chandigarh police has seized 25 surgi cells, 20 prolene meshes and 16 sutures from Kumar Brothers in Sector 11 and 24 prolene meshes a dozen surgi cells worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from Jindal Associates in Sector 24 Chandigarh all are used in complex brain, heart and hernia surgeries.

The Chandigarh police have registered two separate cases of cheating and criminal conspiracy under section 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code and under section 63 of the Copyrights Act against the Ashwani Kumar Singla, owner of Kumar Brothers and Navdeep Kumar of Jindal Associates.
